Sonal Sagore (also known as Sonal Madhushankar) is an Indian actress known for her film, television, and theater work. She made her feature film debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), portraying the character "Banno." In 2024, she starred as "Nehma" in Humans in the Loop, a Hindi-Kurukh film directed by Aranya Sahay. The film, which explores the intersection of artificial intelligence and indigenous communities, earned critical acclaim, with Sonal's performance receiving high praise. The film examines the collision of artificial intelligence with indigenous identities, and Sonal's portrayal has been celebrated for its sensitivity and power, winning her the United States' Tasveer Best Actress Award and Mumbai's WIF Best Actress Award. Her webseries credits include roles in Duranga (2023), Delhi Crime (Season 2), Die Trying, Black, White and Grey, and Kalamanch. She also played a primary role in the Marathi film Danga. A seasoned theater performer, Sonal has been involved in various productions across different theater groups. She played the lead role in The Last Audience, a play exploring the mother-daughter relationship. Sonal holds a post-graduate degree in Acting from the Drama School of Mumbai (DSM) and an engineering degree in Electronics. Beyond acting, she has trained in Chhau dance, clowning, and pistol shooting. She also worked in casting, leading the Yash Raj Casting team for two years and contributing to films like Mardaani 2 and Bunty Aur Babli 2.
