Subhash Mandal was born in the US and raised in Queens, New York. His parents are from Bihar, India. His first acting role was in a school production of the Little Drummer Boy at the age of 7. He attended Hillcrest High School, also known for graduates Ray Romano and Fran Drescher. Also attended Hunter College where he was a four year player on the varsity Volleyball team.
