Wout van Aert is a Belgian professional road cyclist and off-road cyclist (cyclo cross). A three-time UCI world cyclo cross champion, he is known for his rivalry with his contemporary, the Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel. Van Aert, over time, became active as a road race cyclist. An allrounder of the sport, he won nine stages in the Tour de France and has won major spring classics such as Gent-Wevelgem and E3 Harelbeke and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. In addition, he is a time trial specialist.
